Integrate self-discovery with practical steps for better overall health

Ashley Harris Holistic Mental Health Therapy

What’s Holistic Mental Health Therapy?

Too often mental health is looked at as a collection of symptoms instead of an interconnected part of your overall health. Imagine each area of your life being a cup of water, and as cups get drained or refilled, the levels of water in the surrounding cups are affected. Your mental health is connected to the quality of health in every area of your life.

Ashley Harris Holistic Mental Health Therapy

The space between your mental and physical well-being is where I can come in to support you in your therapeutic goals.

As a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional (CIMHP), I’m here to offer perspective on practical lifestyle changes which support your overall mental health goals.

Holistic Mental Health Therapy can support you if...

You got a new job that you really wanted, but it’s more demanding than you thought. You find yourself taking work home, and saying no more often to weekend hikes with friends that you love so much. You miss those activities but you’re riddled with so much work anxiety.

Of course you are stressed! Let’s work together to find ways to establish healthy work boundaries so that you can get your work done, start saying “yes” to those fun weekend outings, and gain a better work-life balance that energizes you for the week ahead.

Years ago, you felt more connected with your faith, belonged to a Bible study group, and knew a few people you’d see on Sundays and volunteer with. But as of late, work has been rough and you’ve had some family stressors weighing on you. You’ve been sleeping in or saying yes to family needs on Sundays instead, even when you really don’t have the energy for them.

Family and work are both important, but so is your spiritual life. Reconnecting to your spiritual center of faith while working on your mental health goals can refresh your soul so you have the energy to pour into other areas of your life. Faith does not have to be separate from therapy. Let’s welcome your whole self into the growth process!

Life at home and work have been intense, so lately you’ve been forgetting to make your lunches the night before work. Throughout the day, you’re finding yourself more likely to say yes to those donuts in the breakroom, pick up some fast-food down the street, or grab a diet soda for an energy boost. Coming home drained, you feel like it’s just “rinse and repeat”–zoning out in the evening and starting it all over the next day. You wake up one day and realize you’ve been feeling anxious, depressed and low energy for months and can’t figure it out.

It’s easy to miss the connection between diet and mental health. We can address the nutrition aspect of your life in order to support your mental health goals. I’ll ask you some questions that other clinicians may not ask you about your eating, sleep and functioning levels in connection with the reasons bringing you to therapy. I’m not here to force you to “give up” your favorite foods–I’m here to help you find ways to substitute or adjust nutrition so that it positively supports your emotional well-being in a sustainable way that works for your life.

You’ve always had a hard time saying “No”, and lately you’ve noticed it catching up with you. At work, even if you have a full plate of tasks, your boss always knows they can throw something new your way because you’ll say yes. In your family, maybe you’re the “fixer”, and when anything goes wrong, everyone calls you. You’re exhausted and just want to enjoy your weekend, but instead you agree to “come to the rescue”.

Well, clearly your boss and family are lucky to have you, but when do you get to take a break from feeling constantly overwhelmed? Let’s work on healthy boundaries skills that you can practice in one area of your life, then apply it everywhere you need to as you take back some time and peace for yourself.
