I’m Ashley Harris, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Integrative Mental Health Provider (CIMHP). I’m also a Christian, devoted wife, mother and business owner.
The decision to seek therapy is a challenging one, and the search to find the mental health support you need is very personal. I respect the thoughts and feelings that are likely happening for you right now, so here are some things to know about me as you are making this decision. My calling to this work runs deep, so I take the work you want to do earnestly, and am honored to be a part of this transformative journey with you.
I view the therapeutic relationship as a source of growth, and springboard for change. Open communication during the therapy process is vital to your progress, and assures that we are both on the same page regarding your treatment. My goal is that when our work together concludes, you have a toolset and meaningful insights to take with you moving forward in life, and can reflect on the journey knowing that you gained everything you hoped for and more!
After years spent in corporate settings to psychiatric facilities, I have worked with many walks of life experiencing a wide range of mental health issues. From career decisions, to relationship challenges and life transitions I’ve witnessed the value of therapy in combination with pharmaceutical medications in supporting mental health. However, I’ve also identified opportunities when holistic areas like nutrition and lifestyle had the potential to elevate and support people’s overall functioning in addition to traditional interventions.
Being a Certified Integrative Mental Health Provider gives me the lens of viewing all areas of life being connected to mental health. Rather than seeing only the collection of symptoms or stressors bringing you into therapy, I take in the whole picture of your life, and ask specific questions you may have never been asked by another mental health professional before. This allows me to identify ways that aspects like lifestyle, sleep, nutrition, activity and spirituality may be connected to your mental health concerns.
My holistic perspective not only plays a role in my work with individuals, but with executives and couples as well. When balancing professional goals, marriage and family life; often one area gets neglected.
This is not purposeful, but when this happens it can create anxiety, feelings of overwhelm or damage relationships quickly. My role is to assist you in defining your most meaningful priorities in life, and establish boundaries and practical ways for you to protect your relationships while still being able to engage in your career the way you want to.
I have found that once your relationships and communication improves, your performance at work optimizes as well.
In couple’s work we identify the attachment patterns and negative cycles at play impacting your relationship, and begin re-aligning you and your partner so that you find your way back to each other in order to fight the negative communication habits head-on together.
Career, children, finances and caring for loved ones can often create the space where stress and negativity can overwhelm a partnership. Over the years, I have supported many couples in working through their differences and rediscovering romance and balance again, even with busy jobs and children in the mix. There are many different outcomes to couples therapy, so if reconnecting is not your goal, I honor the space of supporting you in the deciphering work of what the future may look like for you and your partner to be your healthiest selves- together or apart. Wherever you and your partner are, is where we begin on the road to healing.
So if you feel ready, let’s start on the path to healing together.
